MEGA Homeschool Giveaway (value $400!)
If you follow my link and enter, I get extra entries. Thanks for clicking.
Friday Freebies: Downloadable Textbooks for Your Homeschool!
Every once in a while I stumble onto something really neat without really trying.
This is truly remarkable. CK12 offers (for FREE) a collection of customizable textbooks for download. Over 80 texts are available at this time.
Customizable, you say? How does that work?
Rather than simply downloading a textbook from cover to cover, you create a “Flexbook” which allows you to select the whole text or just particular chapters, creating a unique textbook. It can then be shared in any of 3 formats:
- printable pdf
- online e-reader
- html---interactive with videos and links
Some of the available CK12 textbooks (not customizable) can be downloaded in their entirety for your Kindle!
Subjects: mainly math, science, and technology, but also SAT prep, a bit of US history, and a bit of language arts.
Age range: Mainly high school, but also a few 6-8 grade level texts. I’m going to be taking a closer look at the middle school math and science myself. ;0)

5 Ways to Beat Back the Being Sick Blues
What do you do when illness and other stuff gets in the way of unit studies and math assignments?
- Enjoy the opportunity to slow down and read some good books together.
- Watch a documentary. Or a musical. Or even a cartoon.
- Recognize that math will still be there, even if you are doing it in the middle of July.
- Take advantage of life experiences to learn about the human body and how to care for it.
- Curl up under a blanket tent with flashlights and tell stories.
Soon we will all be well again, but a little break here and there is not a horrible thing.
